Introducing Auburn Chiropractor Dr. Robert Meadows
I had no clue Chiropractic could help me... but it has changed my life forever.
I didn't know that much about Chiropractic really. I used to think it was for people with bad backs. After all, that was why my father went to see his Chiropractor every week or two. I knew his hips would "go out", and he could barely walk. His right leg just refused to hold his body weight - then he would go to his Chiropractor to get adjusted and walk out feeling great. Without his Chiropractor he would not have been able to work and provide for his family. I thought that was a great service to provide and looked into Chiropractic school. It was only after I started my training that I learned what Chiropractic is really all about.
I attended Auburn University and graduated from the pre-med program in 1996 with a degree in Zoology. I began my Chiropractic training the following year at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. During my 4 years at Life I learned Chiropractic is not just about low back pain, headaches, neck pain or anything else. I learned it is about allowing the body to work properly. The nervous system is the master system and controller of the entire body, and Chiropractic removes interference to the nerve system. It was actually during my time at Life being under constant care for the first time in my life that I discovered my long-time allergies and respiratory issues were not something I had to live with!
During my fist year at Life I was exposed to a great number of brilliant and successful doctors. I took the extra time to study under them, study their methods and techniques, and take additional post-graduate classes and seminars geared towards the doctors. One of these doctors was Dr. Bob Brooks of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was only after being adjusted in a very special way called NUCCA that my health problems faded away. I began to study this procedure intensively, volunteering for additional internships with local doctors, attending seminars, and practicing in private study groups to advance my knowledge and skill with this important technique. I can proudly say that since Dr. Brooks changed my life in 1997 I no longer have any allergy symptoms.
I grew up with allergies and would get sick for long periods several times per year. I experienced bronchitis at least 2-3 times per year and nearly always had a sinus infection, cough, or wheeze. I was unable to play any type of endurance sport as my body just did not have the respiratory capacity. I can't help but wonder how my life would have been different if I had been adjusted as a child. I know what a difference being adjusted regularly can make. I adjust my children regularly, and I hope to make that difference for you and your family as well.
Since graduation from Life University with my Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree in 2001, I have also obtained my Certified Chiropractic Extremities Practitioner (CCEP) certificate, and my Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) certificate. I view learning as a lifelong process, and hope to further my knowledge to take care of each person in the unique manner they deserve. I care for each person using the techniques I think will work best for them. After the initial care period, we do followup exams to insure you are progressing and to help identify areas that may need help in a different way. OPTIMAL FUNCTION is our goal, not just getting out of pain, not just getting by, but being the absolute best you can be.
I met my wife Meg shortly after graduation from high school. We attended Auburn University together and were married during my time at Life University. While I was in Chiropractic school, Meg finished her master's degree in nutrition at Auburn. She moved to Atlanta after we married and worked at Atlanta Medical Center as chief clinical dietitian while I worked as a NUCCA Chiropractic specialist in a Sandy Springs practice. We tolerated the Atlanta life for 4 years before moving. We always knew we wanted to return to Auburn to raise our family, it always felt like home when we were in college. Together we have two children, Dempsey and Grace. We love Auburn during fall; the great weather, football games, golf, and socializing with friends. Auburn just has so much to offer a young family, and we are proud to once again call it home.
I will continue to have my spine checked for subluxations for the rest of my life. I learned while in school that many times the first subluxation occurs during the birth process, so I checked and adjusted both my children when they were about 5 minutes old. I check my family about once per week now, or sooner if there is an injury. My children did not have colic, and neither one has ever had an ear infection. We do not use antibiotics, allergy medication, pain relievers, or any other drugs. I know by doing everything we can to stay healthy, and by and insuring our nervous systems are functioning at 100% we will continue have happy healthy lives. In short: The body is a self healing, self regulating organism. It does not need any help, it just does not need any interference to the expression of life.
Enough about me! How can we help you with today's safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.
